The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of America will be holding the 2014 Deutsche Bank Championship during the Labor Day (August 30, 2014 – September 1, 2014) weekend and it is the New England’s premier PGA TOUR event. Founded in 1916, the PGA is a professional golf association with more than 27,000 men and women members. PGA Championship is one of the premier spectator events. Started in 2003, this year’s the Deutsche Bank Championship over the long Labor Day weekend is held at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) Boston in Norton, Massachusetts. This tournament is part of the FedEx Cup playoffs since 2007. Since its inception, the tournament raised more than S20 million for the event holder Tiger Woods Foundation and other New England area foundations. Past winners of the tournament include Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott, Rory McIlroy and many others.
Unfortunately, Tiger Woods is not participating at the tournament due to medical reasons. Participants scheduled to appear in this year’s tournament includes Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, Russell Henley, Billy Horschel, Chris Kirk and many others. The tournament carries an $8 million purse with the winner getting $1.44 million. Top 100 players of the FedEx Cup list qualify for the tournament.
